The long wallet, which broke the record for the highest amount of money for a wallet in Japan (*as of January 31, 2019), has been significantly upgraded. It has been reborn as the Hitoe L-zip L.

Hitoe® (single) structure" that stands out for its thinness

Wallets become thicker because of the overlapping of cards and coins. The "Hitoe® (single) structure" (registered design with the Japan Patent Office) solves this problem. Cards and coins are not stacked on top of each other, but are dispersed horizontally, resulting in a wallet that is significantly thinner than conventional wallets.
Furthermore, there are more than 10 layers of leather in a typical wallet; Hitoe® has only 4 layers. This is the smallest number of wallets we researched that can hold coins and cards.
Twenty bills, fifteen coins, and sixteen cards. Even with such ample storage space, the wallet is only about 15 mm thick. A typical wallet is more than 30 mm thick. It is overwhelmingly thin.

Challenge to "thick leather

This leather is characterized by a moist texture, with oil penetrating deep into the fibers. If the leather is thinned, its original texture will be lost and its strength will deteriorate.
Hitoe® is the result of our challenge to achieve the contradictory goal of "keeping the leather thick, but making the wallet thin. For the exterior, we use "Gen Atsu" leather, which is about 2mm thick and allows the wearer to fully enjoy the original charm of leather. The center of the wallet, however, is only 7mm thick, making it the thinnest wallet with the thickest leather ever.

Upgraded to Hitoe L-zip L for a unique existence

Hitoe L-zip L has been thoroughly improved in response to the many comments received on the previous model. It has been reborn as a wallet that is not only thinner, but also more roomy.

Improvement 1: Thinner and sleeker

We will make improvements based on the feedback we received on the previous long wallet, such as "I want to put more cards in it" and "It's hard to find cards when there are too many cards.

In the previous model, a maximum of 12 cards could be placed in one pocket at a time. However, the large number of cards makes the wallet thick and bulky, and makes it difficult to find the card you are looking for.
By distributing the cards between the two pockets, it is "thinner and smarter" even with more cards in it.
The inspiration was the Hitoe L-zip S. Despite our prior concerns, the extremely shallow coin pocket did not receive any negative feedback, and we received many positive comments about how easy it was to use. Supported by these comments, we made the coin pocket of the long wallet as shallow as possible and increased the number of card pockets to two.

Improvement 2: Custom-made puller

The zipper pulls are original, with the molds specially ordered from YKK. The design is simple, consisting only of straight lines and arcs, with no logo on the front. It is less likely to get caught in pockets, and unnecessary force is not applied to the slider, increasing its durability.
The logo is engraved on the back in a small, inconspicuous way. The convex shape also serves as a non-slip surface. The thicker the tip is when viewed from the side, this is a result of our focus on making it easy to pick up.
It is a small part, but it is a condensed version of SYRINX's design philosophy.

Improvement point 3: Polishing of the cover

The leather is now finished with a polished finish on the edge of the cut.
The lacquered koba generally employed is susceptible to cracking and peeling over time. Although it takes more time and effort, a polished koba is free from such concerns, and the more it is used, the more it will develop its own flavor.

Six well-thought-out usability features

01 Cell phone, passport, and bank passbook.

A typical long wallet is too thick and has no room for a smartphone. However, with Hitoe®, which is thin even when filled with contents, it is possible to carry a smartphone in the wallet. The large iPhone XS Max can also fit in it.
I myself have changed my commute to work since I started using Hitoe®. I no longer have to carry a bag to carry my wallet and iPhone; I now commute to work with only this wallet in my pocket. Then, when I have lunch on weekdays, go out with my kids on weekends, or go shopping... Hitoe® is my companion at all times. I can now live a life with both hands free and hassle-free.
It can also hold a bankbook and passport, and can be used abroad as a passport case and wallet.

02 The shallower the coin pocket, the easier it is to use.

A deep coin pocket makes it difficult to find and remove coins smoothly, while Hitoe®'s shallow, wide-opening coin pocket allows you to quickly find and remove the coins you need. Once the zipper is closed, there is no need to worry about coins spilling out. Despite its shallow opening, it can hold up to 20 coins. There is plenty of room for the maximum number of coins, 999 yen = 15 coins (*photo), if you use coins without wasting them.

03 Plenty of cards

Two card pockets. The one next to the coin pocket is for health insurance cards, loyalty point cards, etc., to be used with cash, while the lower one is for driver's license and credit cards to be used alone.
With the zipper closed, there is no need to worry about accidentally dropping important cards.

04 Smart Cashless, Convenient Double Zipper

A special zipper with sliders on both ends is used.
With a single slider, the card under the coin pocket cannot be used unless it is opened wide. With a double zipper, quick access is possible with minimal movement. There is no need to worry about dropping coins unexpectedly, and it can be used smartly without cash.
As shown in the photo, by opening the two zippers to the side of the coin pocket, you can use both cards and cash at the same time.

05 Shape for easy access to pockets

Hitoe® is thinly bound at one end. This makes it easy to slip in and out of pockets without snagging.

06 Highly Durable Zipper EXCELLA

YKK's top quality EXCELLA zipper is used, which has extremely high dimensional accuracy and little play in the engagement. Therefore, it is hard and may feel a little snaggy at the beginning, but it will gradually become smoother with use.
The cheaper the fastener is, the greater the dimensional play and the more nimble the movement. However, they are not properly meshed, and may bite, come off, or cause other problems. EXCELLA is the highest quality zipper that can be used for a long time.
